The Rise and Rule of Stalin

After the death of Vladimir Lenin, a power-struggle ensued.  By the late 1920s, Joseph Stalin emerged as the new leader of the Soviet Union.  His regime developed into a dictatorial state, characterized by central economic planning, authoritarianism, and the deaths of millions.
